Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and ZoneOwl. ZoneOwl is run by one person, me, as a sole trader in the United Kingdom. By creating an account or using ZoneOwl, you agree to them. If you sign up for an agency or company, you're confirming you can agree on its behalf. I've tried to keep them short and readable. If anything is unclear, email me.
What ZoneOwl does
ZoneOwl checks the domains you add once a day, and whenever you ask for a scan. It looks at SSL certificates, renewal dates, DNS, email security settings and lookalike domains. It alerts you when something needs attention and builds reports you can send to your clients under your own brand.
Your account
- Give accurate details and keep your login safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- You decide who joins your workspace, and you're responsible for what your team members do in it.
- ZoneOwl is for businesses. You need to be at least 18 to use it.
Only monitor domains you look after
Add domains that you own, or that you manage for a client who's happy for you to monitor them. Lookalike results are there so you can protect your clients. Please don't use ZoneOwl to harass, attack or impersonate anyone, to probe systems you have no right to test, or to break any law.
Trial, plans and billing
- New accounts get a 14-day free trial. No card is needed to start.
- When the trial ends, monitoring stops until you pick a plan. Your data stays in place, so you can carry on where you left off.
- Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. Prices are shown on the pricing page.
- You can cancel any time from the billing page. You keep access until the end of the month you've already paid for. I don't refund part-months unless the law says I must.
- Each plan has a domain limit. If you go over it, for example after downgrading, the extra domains are paused until you upgrade or archive some.
- If prices change, I'll email you at least 30 days before the change reaches your bill.
What ZoneOwl can't promise
ZoneOwl relies on public data. DNS, registries, certificate logs and other people's servers can be slow, wrong or briefly unreachable. Alerts depend on email providers, Slack and Teams delivering them. I work hard to keep checks accurate and on time, but I can't guarantee that every problem will be caught, or caught in time.
ZoneOwl is an early-warning tool, not a replacement for your own renewals. Keep auto-renew switched on with your registrar and certificate provider, and treat an alert as a prompt to check, not the last word.
Your data
Everything you put into ZoneOwl stays yours. You give me permission to store and process it only to run the service for you. The privacy policy explains exactly what I keep and who else handles it. You can delete your data whenever you like, or email me for a copy.
Reports you send to clients
You can brand reports with your agency's name, logo and colour, and send them to your clients. You're responsible for what you tell your clients and for any advice you give based on a report.
Fair use
- Don't try to break, overload or get around the limits of the service, or reach data that isn't yours.
- Don't resell access to ZoneOwl itself. Using it to look after your clients is exactly what it's for.
- Don't use automated tools against the app beyond normal use of its features.
Suspending or closing accounts
You can stop using ZoneOwl and delete your workspace at any time. I may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other customers at risk, or stays unpaid. Where it's reasonable, I'll warn you first and give you time to export your data.
Liability
ZoneOwl is provided as it is. I'm not liable for indirect or knock-on losses such as lost profit, lost clients or a domain that lapsed. My total liability to you for anything arising from these terms is capped at what you paid me in the 12 months before the claim.
None of this limits liability that the law doesn't allow me to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you're using ZoneOwl as a consumer rather than a business, your statutory rights aren't affected.
Changes to these terms
If I change these terms in a way that affects you, I'll email account owners at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Using ZoneOwl after that date means you accept the new terms. If you don't, you can cancel before then.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts there will deal with any dispute. Before it gets anywhere near that, please talk to me. Most problems are fixed with an email.
